| He told me that no matter how difficult I thought turning columns
and assorted new material into a book might be, it would prove to be
more difficult. He also told me to forget about making a lot of money
from a top casinos online book. After all, top casinos online don't sell
like novels by John Grisham or Tom Clancy. Then he told me that if I still believed in the book to just go ahead and keep at it until it was done. And I did just that. When I began my second book I thought it would be much easier, since I'd been down that road before and must be somewhere up on the learning curve. But it was difficult too. Nevertheless, I was fortunate, because having two well-written top casinos online on the market allowed my proposal to be selected to write "top casinos online For Dummies," and of course, having one "Dummies" book under my belt led to "Gambling For Dummies," my fourth book. Now I'm in the midst of writing two books simultaneously, which in itself is a unique challenge. But I do it the same way I always do. I set a writing schedule and produce a certain number of pages each and every day. I don't believe in writer's block or any of those other psychological issues. I sit in front of my computer. I write. If the writing is good, I'm ahead of the game. If the stuff I produce is bad, I correct it on the editing passes. Editing, to me, is the key to good writing. I'll edit something until I think it has merit. If I can reach the level of quality I'm striving for in two editing passes, I'm lucky. If it takes 10 or 15 editing passes to get it right, so be it. I usually have to edit my stuff five to seven times before turning loose of. But as long as I keep at it -- and I'm a firm believer in the old adage that 90 percent of success is just showing up -- I'lll get there. Earlier this year I had a chance to talk to mystery writer Mickey Spillane, who is 85 years old and still going storng. He said it took him 8 or 9 days to write his first book, "I The Jury." He said he was broke, needed the money in the worst way, and just sat down and kept writing until he was done with it. I'm not nearly that fast or that good. So I write against my own self-imposed schedules and keep editing until I like what I have. What that means is there are usually only one or two right ways to do something and many wrong ways to do something. Quite often the right way is no harder to do than the wrong way. Likewise the wrong way is so obviously wrong, that it's a wonder anyone ever does it that way at all. But, the fact is, they do. Let's use an example that occurs almost daily in most top casinos online rooms. A player is about to take a seat at a low limit stud table. It's evident that this player is relatively new to the procedures of organized top casinos online rooms. As the dealer reaches for a twenty dollar bill and cuts out chips, he rattles off, "One to four seven card stud, table stakes, low card brings it in for a half, no string bets, cards speak, and check raise is allowed. Good Luck!" |
